Ranchi : Former chief minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren was discharged from a hospital here Monday.
Soren was admitted to Apollo Hospital with a chest pain complaint Jan 13, a day after he resigned as the Jharkhand chief minister.
The JMM chief, who became chief minister in August 2008, needed to be elected to the state assembly by Feb 27 under constitutional requirements. But he lost a key by-election in Tamar constituency Jan 12, plunging the state into a deep political crisis after his resignation. The state went through a period of political uncertainty before president’s rule was imposed Monday.
Meanwhile, Soren’s younger brother Shankar Soren died in the same hospital Monday. The younger Soren was admitted to the hospital Jan 8, the day Shibu Soren lost the key Tamar assembly by-election. His brother was suffering from kidney infection.
The cremation will take place Tuesday at Sorens’ native village Nemra of Ramgarh district. Shibu Soren is likely to attend the funeral of his brother.
