Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate N.N. Shrimangale visited the Crime Branch lock-up, within the high-security precincts of Mumbai Police headquarters, and conducted the hearing for the fifth time.

A police official said that Kasab remained unrepresented since Mumbai lawyers have decided not to fight his case.

Kasab was held at Chowpati after the shootout on the night of Nov 26 at the busy Chhatrapati Shivaji railway terminus – one of a dozen cases lodged against him.

Among various charges, Kasab is booked under the Indian Penal Code sections 302, 307, sections of the Criminal Procedure Code, the Arms and Explosives Act and other laws.

More than 170 people, including 26 foreign nationals, were killed in the terrorist attacks. Commandos shot dead nine attackers.
