New Delhi : The Rs.70-billion accounting fraud at Satyam Computer will not mar the image of corporate India abroad, Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal said here Tuesday.
“There are a lot of shining stars in India’s corporate world who will ensure that the flag of India keeps flying high,” said Sibal.
The minister’s comments came barely three days after Manmohan Singh said the Satyam scam was a “blot” on India Inc’s image and that the government would unravel the plot and punish the guilty.
“When you have an entity or corporate player who has not played by the rules of the game, you have to deal with it,” Sibal said.
“The corporate and political establishment should realise that ultimately ethics and economics should go hand-in-hand,” added Sibal.
