New Delhi : Five suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists allegedly involved in the Sep 13 serial bombings in the capital were sent to jail till Feb 4 Wednesday.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja remanded Mohammed Saif, Zeeshan Ahmed, Zia-ur-Rehman, Saquib Nissar and Mohammed Shakeel to 14 days’ judicial custody.
The accused were brought to the court from Ahmedabad, where they were being questioned for their alleged role in the July 26 blast earlier in the Gujarat city.
The court took cognizance of the charges filed against them in the serial blasts in Delhi’s busy market places that claimed 26 lives and left many injured.
The next hearing in the case has been posted for Feb 4.
The police informed the court that forensic report about the Connaught Place (Barakhamba Road) blast was awaited while sanction for prosecuting the accused in the case has already been obtained.
The court directed the police to supply copies of charge sheet to all the accused in Karol Bagh, Greater Kailash-I and Barakhamba Road bombings Sep 13.
A total of five first information reports (FIRs) were registered in the serial blasts.
The court also issued warrants for Jan 29 against the alleged co-founder of the IM, Mohammed Sadiq Sheikh, and member Quamuddin Kapadia who are in Ahmedabad.
Another accused, Mohammed Hakim, is at present in judicial custody.
The police have filed three charge sheets for the serial blasts.
