Ranchi : Fans of the US President Barack Obama have formed a club in Jharkhand to tell people that age and race are no bar to achieving anything in life.
Obama Fans Club was formed in the steel city of Jamshedpur Tuesday night when the 47-year-old African American was sworn in as the 44th president of the US.
“Obama is an icon for the black and young people. Despite being black, Obama achieved the goal at a young age,” the club’s president Suresh Dhari said.
He said the club aims to educate the tribal and young men that age and race do not matter while seeking to achieve anything in life.
Around 30 people, who joined the club, also burst firecrackers and distributed sweets while Obama took oath.
Dhari said the club will soon organise a rally in Jamshedpur to create awareness among the people.
“We take it as a victory of the black people. It is a great moment for the world to witness a black taking charge. No one had ever imagined that a black will become the president of the US,” Adivasi Sarna Samittee president Ajay Tirkey said.
