JMM had earlier proposed to make Champai Soren the chief minister of Jharkhand, which was rejected by the Congress and Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) in the coalition government.

“After Feb 5, we will go to New Delhi and hold dialogue with the central UPA leaders to form an alternative government. Party has proposed two new names to head the alternative government,” Shibu Soren told reporters here.

The two names to be proposed by the JMM are of former state agriculture minister and party legislator Nalin Soren and another legislator Salkhan Soren. This was decided in a meeting of party legislators and leaders in Ranchi Tuesday night.

When asked what would happen if the central UPA leaders reject the two names, Shibu Soren said: “To maintain the unity of UPA we have proposed (the) two new names. It is up to the central UPA leaders to decide about unity of UPA in the state”.

After the opposition of the key allies in the UPA government over appointment of Champai Soren as chief minister, president’s rule was imposed in the state Jan 19.

Champai Soren’s name was proposed after Shibu Soren lost a by-election on Jan 8 and had to step down as chief minister.
