Police officials arrested for killing a constable in Tripura

Agartala : Two police officials have been arrested for allegedly killing a constable in Tripura, officials said here Thursday.

Police spokesperson Nepal Das said circle inspector Intu Marak and officer-in-charge (OC) of a police station Ratan Muni Debbarma Wednesday physically assaulted 54-year-old constable Buddhiram Debbarma. The constable succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.

The incident took place at Ganganagar, 130 km north of here in Dhalai district.

“There was a squabble between the dead constable and the two other officials over organising a dinner for some senior police officials. There was some resentment over junior officials not being invited for the dinner,” Das told IANS.

The Tripura government ordered an inquiry and suspended both the police officials.

“Tripura Director General of Police Pranay Sahay met the family members and other relatives of the dead constable and assured strict action against the guilty,” said Das.
