“Encouraging youths is a long-term policy of the BSP and in the interests of the country and ‘Sarvasamaj’ (the entire society), the party will provide 50 percent of tickets for the Lok Sabha poll to youth,” a press release cited Mayawati as saying.

The BSP has always made efforts and taken the responsibility to bring the youth to the forefront and thus decided to field 50 per cent of youths in the forthcoming poll, she added.

The BSP chief said that youth would take the policies and programmes of the party to the people and play a constructive role in the all-round development of the country.

Mayawati alleged that other political outfits were not serious about participation of youth, saying they allure youth only when the elections are near and once they are over, they forget about them.
