Kolkata : Bus and taxi fares across West Bengal will come down next month following a cut in diesel prices, state transport minister Subhas Chakraborty said Friday.
According to the new rates, the minimum taxi fare will be Rs.20 instead of Rs.22, while the bus fare for 4-8 km has been reduced to Rs.5 from Rs.6, and mini bus fare for 2-6 km to Rs.5.50 from Rs.6.
“The new fare will come into effect Feb 10,” Chakraborty told reporters after a high level meeting at the state secretariat here Friday afternoon.
State finance minister Asim Dasgupta, who was also present at the meeting, said the new and reduced diesel price will come into effect in the state from Saturday.
The central government Thursday slashed diesel prices by Rs.2 a litre.
