Kolkata : The furnace of Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd. naphtha cracker unit caught fire in the early hours of Thursday, according to a company spokesperson.
Nobody was injured in the fire, the company said in a statement.
“The unit suddenly tripped due to apparent malfunctioning of some control systems and the furnace caught fire,” the spokesperson said in the statement.
Company personnel brought the fire under control, the spokesperson said, adding: “Assistance from neighbouring industries was also obtained. All employees are safe.”
Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd. complex is located about 125 km from Kolkata.
