Mahmood Madani visits Behrampada fire victims

Mumbai: The Maharashtra unit of Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind yesterday distributed sets of utensils to those affected from Behrampada fire in the suburban Mumbai area.

Not caring the heavy rain, MP and leader of Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind (JUH) Maulana Mahmood Madani along with other Maharashtra workers of the organization visited Behrampada camps and handed over five sets of utensils to the victims. The rest 750 trunks containing 32 different utensils – four plates, one pot, two glasses and one bucket among others – will be distributed by the local workers among the victims within coming two to three days.

Mahmood Madani assured the victims that JUH will try its best on both state and central level for their earliest rehabilitation.

Hakeemudin Qasmi, secretary general of JUH, Hafiz Nadeem, president of the Maharashtra unit and Haji Abul Bayan Hammad, vice president were among the people who accompanied Maulana Mahmood Madani.

In the early hours of June 18 a blaze had caught the Behrampada slum area in Bandra which burnt hundreds of shanties and claimed nearly a dozen lives. Thousands of people were affected who are now in transit camps under Bandra Sky Walk and its vicinities.
