New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board today launched a national program whereby Muslim lawyers taking up Muslim divorce and other related cases in the Supreme Court and High Courts will be briefed on the issues in the light of Quran and Hadith, so that they could help courts understand the letter and spirit of Shariat on such issues.

“Generally court verdicts on divorce and other related issues are not according to the spirit of Quran and Hadith. This program aims to brief Muslim advocates taking up such issues and refresh their knowledge about the teachings of Islam on the issues,” said Dr SQR Ilyas, convenor of the program in Delhi, while opening the first such program at the head office of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board in the National Capital.

AIMPLB in its Bhopal conclave had taken the decision to launch interactive sessions between Ulema and Muslim advocates on the issues in the country, he added.

Launching the program renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, who heads the Shariat Committee of the AIMPLB, talked about Nikah, Talaq and other issues related to them. In length he talked about the ways whereby husband and wife can separate from each other amicably and peacefully.

“Though Talaq is one of the most disliked things it has been allowed in Islam as it saves woman and keeps society from indulging in evils,” Maulana Rahmani said.

The advocates who attended the interactive session included Mushtaque Ahmed and Z K Faizan (Supreme Court) and Firoz Ahmed Ghazi, Tariq Siddiqui and Mansoor Ahmed (Delhi High Court).
