Ranchi: Maoist rebels killed two people in Jharkhand after branding them police informers, police said.
According to police, the rebels killed Manoj Sao, who ran a shop and hotel at Pirtand block of Giridih district, late Friday night, by slitting his throat. A pamphlet branding Manoj as police informer and a rapist was left near his body, found Saturday morning near Chachondo village of the district, around 190 km from Ranchi.
The second incident took place in Gumla district, where the rebels killed a teacher by crushing his head with heavy stones. He was also accused of being a police informer.
Maoist guerrillas are active in 18 of the 24 districts of Jharkhand. Nearly 1,500 people have been killed in Maoist-related violence in the last eight year
