Dhaka : A private pharmaceutical firm in Bangladesh was ordered to be sealed after 24 children died on consuming paracetamol suspension, an official said.
The drug administration ordered the firm to suspend manufacturing and marketing of their products including vitamin and paracetamol suspension, New Age said Thursday.
The government ordered a seven-member committee to probe the cause of deaths.
“The company is also ordered to withdraw its products from the market and to publish an announcement in three daily newspapers immediately in this regard,” said Mohammad Ismail Hossain, director of the drug administration.
Mizanur Rahman, managing director of Rid Pharmaceuticals, told The Daily Star that soon after getting the orders for sealing, he has withdrawn the paracetamol suspension and vitamin from the market, though he claimed not to use any harmful compound in his products.
