Ranchi : Vigilance sleuths Friday raided the houses of former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda and three ex-ministers in a corruption case, officials said.
The ex-ministers whose houses were searched by the vigilance sleuths are Kamlesh Singh (Nationalist Congress Party), Bandhu Tirkey (Independent) and Bhanu Pratap Sahi (Independent).
The vigilance department had lodged a first information report (FIR) July 2 against Koda and the three former ministers following a directive by the vigilance court.
The court directed the vigilance department to lodge an FIR while it was hearing a petition filed by Rajiv Sharma who had charged Koda (Independent) and the ex-ministers of amassing wealth beyond their known sources of income.
“We are searching the residences of Koda and the three ex-ministers to find documents relating to their assets,” an official of the vigilance department told IANS.
While his house was being searched, Tirkey told reporters: “We want the cases lodged against us to be investigated fast. If we are found guilty then we should be punished. The cases should not linger on for a long period of time.”
Meanwhile, two former Ministers, Enos Ekka and Harinarayn Rai are absconding despite arrest warrants being issued against them last month.
