The Vedike has also decided to launch an independent inquiry into the riots from August 2 and submit the report to the state Governor HR Bharadwaj.

Three people were killed and several others injured in the clashes that began on July 2 in Udayagiri in Mysore. Clashes broke out, reportedly, because of the desecration of a masjid. Property worth crores of rupees was destroyed. People under the leadership of the Popular Front of India had held a demonstration demanding the release of those innocents arrested, including the leaders of the PFI. The demonstrators were brutally lathicharged and arrested by the police. The Komu Sauharda Vedike too had participated in the demonstration along with some other organizations.
