Kochi: The bail pleas of the seven accused in the Kashmir terror link case were rejected by the court yesterday. Additional Sessions Judge K Babu rejected the bail applications pointing that the trial has already begun and that the case was special.
The lawyer of the accused Adv PC Noushad had submitted bail pleas on behalf of the seven accused maintaining that the prosecution was delaying the trial purposefully. He submitted the bail plea on 24th of this month when the prosecutor Adv PV Hari asked the court for more time to study the case. The court had then postponed the primary trial to August 18.
The seven accused who tried for bail are the sixth accused Muhammed Nainar Ali, 12th accused Kodoth Firose, 14th accused Muhammed Navas, 16th accused Sabir P Bukhari, 18th accused PK Anas, 19th accused Shaneej and Abdul Hameed alias Ameer Ali alias Muhammed Yusuf.
There are a total of 23 accused in the case. Six are remanded in Bangalore. Chanthintavide Faisal of Kannur is the second accused and is in remand in Kannur Central Jail. Five of the accused are absconding.
The accused numbers 7-10 were reportedly killed in encounter in Kashmir. They have been removed from the list of the accused. The cases of those absconding as well as of those in jail in Bangalore and other places will be tried later.
