Six held for firing at bank employees, looting cash

New Delhi: Six men have been arrested here for allegedly shooting and injuring two bank employees and looting Rs.950,000 from them in broad daylight in northwest Delhi Monday, police said Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Neeraj Thakur said Amarjeet Singh and Naseem were arrested from Sector 9 Rohini and their interrogation further led to the arrests of their accomplices Rahul, Pradeep, Satbir Singh and Adnan Khan.

Police have recovered two country made pistols and half of the looted amount from them.

Surender Kumar Aggarwal, a 50-year-old field officer with the Nagarik Sahakari Bank, and peon Ashwini Kumar were going from Pitampura to the Tri Nagar branch of the bank to deposit cash Monday afternoon when four men on two motorbikes waylaid their hired auto rickshaw near Prembari Pul and fired at them.

Aggarwal was shot in the back while Kumar was hit in the head with the butt of a gun. The accused snatched the bag containing the cash from them and sped away on the motorbikes.
