Railways will carry forward Lalu Prasad’s projects: Minister

New Delhi : The railways ministry will carry forward the projects taken up by the former minister, Lalu Prasad, including the ambitious bullet train proposal, Minister of State for Railways K.H. Muniyappa said here Monday.

“We will continue with all projects and plans of the previous railways minister, including the bullet train project and modernisation of railway stations,” Muniyappa told reporters after taking charge in the ministry.

However, the financial position of the railways would be taken into account before deciding on projects, he added.

“We have to see the budgetary position as well and we will decide about these projects based on priority,” the minister said.

According to Muniyappa, the priority would be to improve the general amenities and services for the common man and at the same time keep the services at par with global standards.

“There is a need to improve the railways amenities so that people can get value for their money.”
