Srinagar, India : Scholars and statesmen are eulogizing the dynamic role played by Imam Khomeini in Islamic renaissance at the ceremonies marking the 20th anniversary of the demise being held across Kashmir on the occasion throughout this week.
Imam Khomeini, the great Leader of the Islamic revolution, a multi-talented leader with a strong, unbending resolute personality, a jurist, a statesman, a theologian, a philosopher, a poet and above all a mystic is being fondly remembered
by all sections of society in Kashmir cutting across sectarian and political affiliations.
Majma’e Islami Kashmir, a newly created body for Islamic awakening, is organizing a seminar titled, “Problems Facing Muslims and their Solution in Light of Imam Khomeini’s Thoughts’ at city’s College of Education on Saturday.
Organizers are also holding an essay competition on the occasion. The themes include Role of Imam Khomeini in Spreading Islamic Awareness, Imam’s View About Muslim Unity, Role of Youth in Popularization of Imam’s Thought and Problems of Muslim World and Their Solution.
Wilayah Islamic Network is paying tribute to the great leader by organizing a show of documentary films depicting various aspects of the life of the late Imam Khomeini in Srinagar’s Iqbal Khomeini Hall on Sunday.
However, several functions scheduled for Monday and Tuesday were postponed due to a general strike in the capital city over the rape and murder of two Muslim women allegedly by Indian forces.
Several Iranian diplomats were also in the city to attend the functions organized by Anjumane Sharie Shiayan, Imam Hussain foundation and host of other organizations.
Anjamunae Ittehadul Muslimeen, meanwhile, said today that it will go ahead with its scheduled programme to mark the occasion on Thursday. ”We have organized a seminar on the theme of “Imam Khomeini and Muslim Unity” and several top leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik besides several top Muslim religious leaders will be taking part in the event, a party spokesman said.
Several functions commemorating the anniversary of the late leader are being held in frontier Kargil district of Kashmir as well.
