Islamabad : Pakistani intellectuals here Monday praised Iranian electoral process, saying it has become a precedent for Muslim countries.
Speaking to IRNA about Iran’s upcoming Presidential elections, scheduled for June 12, they said that despite the western propaganda Iranian democracy is self explanatory.
Air Marshal (Retd.), and former Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, Syed Qaiser Hussain, expressing his views said that the elections in Iran have always been held in a transparent manner which is a good omen for the rest of the Islamic world.
“The electoral process of Iran has become a precedent for the Muslim countries despite the western propaganda”, he maintained.
He suggested that the Muslim world should follow the foot steps of the Iranian government by implementing strong democratic systems in their countries.
He hoped that the elections would be held peacefully in Iran.
Syed Qaiser Hussain stated that Iran is a very important country of the region and the stability and prosperity in Iran have a direct effect on Pakistan.
He said whosoever is elected as the president by the people of Iran will be welcomed by the people and the leadership of Pakistan.
“Pakistan needs the support of Iran on its war against terrorism and for the welfare of the people”, Syed Qaiser Hussain added. “Our strategic depth lies in Iran”, he said, he believed.
“In my opinion the relations between the two countries will continue to strengthen”, he viewed.
The Editor-in-Chief of an Urdu daily, Mehtab Khan, too, said that the elections in Iran will be important both for the Persian Gulf region and the for the entire world. “The electoral process in Iran is highly credible”, he added.
He said that since the Islamic revolution, Iran has been standing by its principles and refused to bow down to western pressure.
Mehtab Khan opined that the Iranian leadership has presented the viewpoint of the Muslims across the glob very effectively and boldly to the western world.
He stressed the need for practical efforts to foil the designs of Israel and the US against the Muslim Ummah.
He opined that the western countries have been trying to divide the Muslims by lighting the fire of sectarianism.
The journalist demanded of the Muslim community to sink their differences and unite against the enemies of Islam.
Mehtab Khan said that Iran and Pakistan had a long history of friendly relations and people of both countries are very close to each other.
“In the future the relations between Iran and Pakistan would further strengthen”, he further stressed.
