Kolkata : Tea plantation company McLeod Russel Wednesday said its net loss has come down to Rs.88.61 crore for the fourth quarter of 2008-09.
The company had posted a loss of Rs.97.34 crore in the January-March quarter of 2007-08, an official statement said.
McLeod Russel’s total income during the period, however, went up about 13 percent to Rs.217 crore from Rs.193 crore in last quarter of 2007-08.
For the 2008-09 fiscal, the company recorded a consolidated profit of Rs.83.47 crore, about 80 percent higher than Rs.46.41 crore reported the year before.
McLeod Russel’s operating profit increased 148 percent last fiscal to reach Rs.206 crore as against Rs.83.3 crore in 2007-08.
The board of directors has proposed a dividend of Rs.2 on each equity share of Rs.5 for the year, managing director Aditya Khaitan told reporters.
Total exports (including deemed exports) during the year were 26.8 million kilogram at Rs.118.63 per kilogram as against 27.4 million kilogram at Rs.90.01 per kilogram last year, he added.
