CBI questions NCP MP

Mumbai: Padamsinh Patil, a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP, was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) late Saturday in connection with the murder of a Congress leader in 2006, official sources said here.

Patil, a former Maharashtra home minister who now represents Osmanabad in the Lok Sabha, was questioned till late into the night, they said.

Congress leader Pavan Raje Nimbalkar was shot dead by two gunmen at Kalamboli near here July 3, 2006 after he was lured there on the pretext of striking a business deal.

Two people arrested by the CBI last week have revealed that they had also been given a contract to kill Magsaysay Award winner and social activist Anna Hazare.
