JMM calls UPA meeting for formation of Jharkhand government

By IANS,

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has called a meeting of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) partners June 11 to discuss government formation in the state.

JMM Sunday held a meeting of its legislators in Bokaro at the residence of party chief Shibu Soren.

“On June 11 the UPA partners such as the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) will meet and discuss the formation of government in the state,” Soren told reporters in Bokaro Sunday.

Soren said: “If the UPA partners agree to form the government then a delegation of UPA will go to New Delhi and meet the central leader of their respective parties including Congress president Sonia Gandhi”.

JMM has, however, made it clear that the formation of the government will be initiated only when the person selected as the chief minister is acceptable to the UPA partners.

At present Jharkhand is under President Rule since Jan 19 and the state assembly has been kept under suspended animation.

JMM also discussed the election for the two Rajya Sabha seats scheduled June 20. JMM has decided to claim one seat and concede the second to the Congress.
