Mumbai : A key index of the Indian equities markets sharply dipped about an hour before the closing bell Thursday. It was ruling 277 points below its previous close.
The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, which opened at 14,503.05 points, was trading at 14,244.96 points – 277.88 points or 1.91 percent lower than Wednesday’s close.
Similarly, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 2.37 percent to stand at 4,252.9 points.
Lesser valued scrips saw greater selling as BSE midcap index fell 4 percent from its previous close, while the BSE smallcap index slid 4.51 percent.
