Speaking at a party programme here, Banerjee said opposition parties and the masses did not have faith in the state’s Left Front government. “The Disturbed Area Act must be promulgated in the three districts.”

Banerjee, who Saturday expressed her annoyance over the central government not informing her in advance about the joint operation by the state police and paramilitary forces to flush out Maoists from Lalgarh, said the Congress should believe her party, and not the Left Front major Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).

Banerjee, whose party is the second largest constituent of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the centre, rued that the major party was free to take its own decisions.
