4 Punjab power board employees arrested for attacking journalists

Patiala (Punjab) : Four employees of the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) were arrested for allegedly attacking three journalists of a Hindi daily newspaper here Thursday, said the police.

According to the police, the three journalists had gone to the office of the PSEB, where their grid is situated, to gather some news. On seeing the air-conditioners on despite a ban on their usage, one of the them tried to click photographs.

This infuriated the PSEB staff and they attacked the journalists, who reportedly sustained serious injuries.

R.K. Sharma, Patiala superintendent of police (City), told IANS, “We have arrested four employees of the PSEB and started our investigations.”

Faced with a major power crisis in the state in the paddy sowing season, the Punjab government had issued instructions banning the use of air-conditioners in all government offices throughout the state from Thursday.
