Bhopal : Three of the four men accused of burning alive a girl who protested their harassment have been arrested, police in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district, where the gruesome incident occurred, said Saturday.
Rukhsana, 18, sustained 80 percent burns when the four men – Rakesh Kori, Brajesh Kori, Siaram and Nisar Mohammad – barged into her house when she was alone, poured kerosene over her and set her ablaze. She died in hospital Saturday, Chhatarpur Superintendent of Police (City) Sameer Yadav told IANS.
Rakesh Kori, Brajesh Kori and Siaram were arrested late Friday night while Nisar Mohammad was still at large, Yadav said.
According to him, the four men used to harass the girl, often calling her on the telephone at odd hours. Ruksana had Wednesday told her mother about the harassment and she, in turn, had scolded the four men.
Sub Inspector D.S. Parihar and head constable Navane Singh, posted at Kotwali police station, were suspended for their slackness in registering the report, Yadav added.
