New Delhi : Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav Sunday said no alliance has been finalised with the Congress but stressed that there is “no dispute” between the two parties as well.

“We want to contest the elections with them (Congress). Until now our alliance with them has not been finalised, but there are no disputes as well,” Yadav said in a press conference here.

The Samajwadi Party has announced its candidates for 64 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh.

Yadav said the party is still in the process of deciding whether to put up candidates together with Congress or to go independently.

“But I want to tell you that there will be no bitterness with the Congress in the future,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Virender Singh has joined the Samajwadi Party.

Former state cabinet minister and a six-time legislator, Singh said: “We have been working for the weaker sections and minorities till the time of Chaudhary Charan Singh.

“But now, after Ajit Singh has joined hands with communal forces, I have decided to join Samajwadi Party which is a secular party in the true sense.”

Samajwadi Party Sunday also announced names of five candidates for Madhya Pradesh, three in Haryana and one in Uttarakhand.
