Over 15 Maoist gunmen in police uniforms Wednesday night dragged Manoj Singh, 40, from his house in Parsando village in Munger district, about 150 km from here, according to witnesses.

The guerrillas slit Singh’s throat and left him to bleed to death, said Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar Nayak.

Singh was the president of Kharagpur block of the JD-U.

Police have recovered a leaflet in which Maoists have accused Singh of being a police informer, Nayak said.

The witnesses said the gunmen fled towards a nearby forest after killing the JD-U leader.

No arrest has been reported yet.
