Mumbai : Indian equities extended their gains in the afternoon trade Thursday, with a key index ruling about 2.79 percent higher than its previous close an hour before the closing bell.
The 30-scrip Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index (Sensex), which opened at 8,274.78 points, was at 8,387.69 points – a rise of 227.29 points or 2.79 percent from its previous close.
Similarly, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 2.15 percent from its last close to rule at 2,628.4 points.
The BSE midcap index was ruling 0.45 percent higher, while the BSE smallcap index was up 0.52 percent.
