Holi scuffle claims life in Delhi, two arrested

New Delhi : Two people have been arrested and two minors detained after a young man was killed in a scuffle over Holi celebration here Wednesday, the police said Thursday.

Siraj Ahmed was on his way to Zakir Nagar along with his wife in a rickshaw around noon when some young men playing Holi near the Lions Hospital in the New Friends Colony threw colour on her. When he objected to it, an altercation broke out between them, according to the police.

Soon his brother-in-law Sajid and his employee Rahisuddin also reached the spot on a motorcycle. The two were trying to mollify the young men, when one of revelers, later identified as Krishan Kumar, allegedly attacked Rahisuddin with a knife, the police said.

Siraj took injured Rahisuddin to the Lions Hospital and then to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where he was declared brought dead.

A case of murder was registered at New Friends Colony.

A police team mounted searches at various places and arrested Ravi of Khizrabad. Prime accused Krishan was also arrested later.

The police detained the two minors following Krishan’s interrogation and presented them before a juvenile court.
