BSP legislator, sons charged with kidnapping

By IANS,

Lucknow : Police in Uttar Pradesh conducted raids Saturday to nab a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislator and her two sons for their alleged involvement in kidnapping a man.

This comes on the heels of another criminal case being filed against a BSP legislator for creating a ruckus in a police station.

Ballia legislator Manju Singh and her two minor sons were charged with manhandling and kidnapping after her henchmen intervened in a scuffle between school children in a school bus.

A case was also filed against Lalitpur BSP legislator Nathuram and over 200 of his supporters for creating a ruckus at the Kotwali police station late Thursday night. The matter came to light late Friday after the local media intervened.

“The Kotwali police picked up a youth Raju Kushwaha on suspicion of vehicle theft. However, the legislator and his supporters surrounded the police station and misbehaved with the cops demanding Raju’s release,” Superintendent of Police Akhileshwar Ram told IANS over phone.

A case of rioting, threatening to kill, interfering in government work and breaking the model code of conduct, among others, was lodged against Nathuram and his supporters by inspector Ishwar Dayal, he added.

However, Kushwaha also lodged a case against the inspector and four other constables alleging that they attempted to loot him, Ram said.

“The inspector has been sent to the police lines and the four constables have been suspended. Investigations are on and no arrests have been made so far,” Ram said.

In the case of Manju singh, the brawl between her sons, Sonu and Monu, and a Class 4 student in a school bus turned ugly when the legislator’s henchmen intervened.

“Sonu and Monu had a fight with a Class 4 student and after that Manju Singh’s followers intercepted the bus,” Inspector Baccha Paswan told IANS over phone.

Abhay Singh, the father of the student, reached the spot but was thrashed by the legislator’s men.

“Abhay singh was locked inside a room. It was only after our intervention that he was released. A case of manhandling and kidnapping has been registered against Manju Singh, her sons and unknown people,” Paswan added.
