Madhya Pradesh assembly to convene Monday

By IANS,

Bhopal : The Madhya Pradesh assembly will convene Monday for a five-day session, an official said here Sunday.

Principal Secretary A.K. Payasi said that the assembly will pass the vote-on-account for the financial year 2009-10 during the session.

“Five sittings have been scheduled during the session and as many as 980 questions have been received so far. Besides, 94 call attention notices, 37 zero hour notices and six notices under rule 139 have been received,” he said.

But the opposition Congress slammed the government for holding such a “short” session.

“As a tradition this should have been the budget session but it seems the government is afraid of facing the opposition on the problems which the people of the state are confronted with,” Congress legislative party spokesman Choudhary Rakesh Singh said.

“The government has failed to provide electricity to the farmers, industrialists, traders and students alike. Instead of improving power supply, it is blaming the central government to divert the attention of the people,” he claimed.

“We will raise all these and other issues with our full might both within and outside the house,” Singh said.
