ICC spokesman Brian Murgatroyd Tuesday said the world cricket body has demanded improvements in the stadium in St John’s after the Test between West Indies and England was halted after just 10 balls because field conditions were deemed too dangerous for the players.

Murgatroyd says the ruling took effect Monday and inspection teams will monitor the improvements, Daily Telegraph reports.

The February Test was called off after West Indies bowlers complained they could not keep their footing because of thick sand. The surface was built for the 2007 World Cup and was modified to correct drainage problems.
