“Any adjustment is not possible with the RJD at this stage. Even if there is an adjustment, it would be for only a few seats; our workers are agitated and we have to listen to them also,” senior Congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde told reporters.

On Tuesday, RJD chief Lalu Prasad and LJP president Ram Vilas Paswan, key constituents of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance, said they would contest the elections together. According to them, the RJD would contest 25 seats, the LJP 12 and the Congress would be left with only three.

Polling for the 40 parliamentary seats in Bihar would be held in four phases on April 16, April 23, April 30 and May 7. Results would be declared on May 16.
