Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as part of its election strategy, will hold “a campaign for justice” in all constituencies to highlight what it calls the central government’s stepmotherly treatment towards the state.
“The party’s thrust at the moment is ‘nyay yatra’ (march for justice, as the campaign is called) to be undertaken in every parliamentary constituency from March 23 to 28,” a senior party leader told IANS.
Madhya Pradesh will go to polls in two phases – April 23 and April 30 – and the BJP has already announced its candidates for 26 of the 29 parliamentary seats in the state.
“For the remaining three seats – Khajuraho, Sidhi and Chhindwara – it is waiting for the Congress candidates to be named and will decide its nominee accordingly. However, these candidates would also have been declared by the time (March 23) the yatras are slated to commence,” the leader said.
The party will protest what it calls the centre’s “anti-people policies” and highlight the state government’s welfare measures through the yatras. The power crisis has worsened in the state, so party leaders don’t want to spare any effort to convince voters that this was due to the centre’s stepmotherly treatment towards the state and not the fault of the state government.
