New Delhi : The Supreme Court Thursday decided to hear Monday a plea by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Mohammed Shahabuddin seeking suspension of his conviction by the Patna High Court in an attempt to murder case.
Shahabuddin, who is an MP from Siwan in Bihar, sought an apex court direction to the Patna High Court to dispose his plea to suspend his conviction at the earliest to enable him fight the Lok Sabha elections.
A bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan decided to hear the plea March 23 after his counsel explained to the court that the last date of filing nomination for the election from Siwan is March 30.
The Patna High Court had decided to hear his plea March 30.
