Ola was shown by a news channel inaugurating newly built rooms of a government school in Rajasthan March 8.

“The commission gives an opportunity to Ola to furnish an explanation as to why action should not be taken for the said violation of the provisions of the model code of conduct. The reply of this notice should reach the commission by March 25,” an official statement said.

The model code of conduct, which came into force March 2, stipulates that ministers and authorities, except civil servants, shall not lay foundation stones of projects or schemes of any kind.

However, Ola allegedly inaugurated the rooms at a function and it was given a wide publicity in the areas by distributing pamphlets.

“The district election officer after inquiring into the matter submitted a report March 12, which stated that the above act is in total violation of the letter and spirit of provisions of the model code of conduct,” an Election Commission official said.
