AIMIM president and sitting member of parliament Asaduddin Owaisi will contest from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat. Zahid Ali Khan, the editor of Siasat Daily, has emerged as the main challenger in this Muslim dominated constituency.

Akbaruddin Owaisi, leader of the AIMIM legislature party, will contest from Chandrayangutta constituency. He will face off with Dr. Khayam Khan, convenor of the Majlis Bachao Tehreek and son of the late Amanullah Khan who represented the constituency five times (four times as member of MIM and once as the president of the breakaway Majlis Bachao Tahreek). The seat has become a prestige issue for both sides and the area has already seen clashes between the two groups.

Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, sitting MLA, will run from Yaqutpura. Former MLA and leading businessman Virasat Rasool Khan has been nominated from the newly created Nampally constituency.

Murali Reddy has been chosen as the party’s candidate from the Rajendranagar constituency. This is not the first time that MIM is fielding a Hindu candidate, twice, Hindu members of MIM became mayors of Hyderabad.

Nominees for Majlis’ traditional bastion Charminar, Asaf Nagar, Karwan, Malakpet, Musheerabad, Gosha Mahal, Bahadurpura, etc. will be announced at a later date.
