According to police, three men came at Luxmi Associates, a Vita distributor, in Sector 18. Two of them entered the premises and one remained outside.

“Vinod Jain, general manager of the company, was alone in the office at that time. He managed to grab one of the accused who was holding a gun in his hand. He was beaten badly by the other robber but he did not release him,” said a police official.

“In the meantime the second accused picked up money from the cash box and fled. Jain got severe head injuries but he did not release the accused till other shopkeepers reached the spot. We are questioning him and trying to get the details of the other two robbers.”

Jain was admitted in a hospital.

Naresh Mittal, managing director of the company, told IANS, “Everyday around 125 dealers of the area submit the amount of the day’s sales to us and usually we have around Rs.500,000-600,000 at that time at our booth.

“The other two accused could have been arrested if the police acted in time. No police official came here even after half an hour of the crime. In fact, we had to send our own vehicle to bring the cops at the crime spot,” said Mittal.
