Kolkata : A court in West Bengal Tuesday sentenced three Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leaders and 43 party supporters in Birbhum district to life imprisonment for murdering four Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist (CPI-ML) workers in 1987.
District and sessions judge Dipak Saha Roy pronounced all the 46 guilty in the 22-year-old murder case.
Subhash Dutta, the government lawyer, said the incident occurred in November 1987, when four CPI-ML activists were attacked by the CPI-M leaders and supporters with sharp-edged weapons at Muluk village in the Bolpur police station area of the district.
