AMU students shine in Civil Services examinations

Aligarh: Like last year this year also the number of the students from Aligarh Muslim University qualifying for the Civil Services has gone up. Last year the number of successful students was four but this year it has registered a twenty percent increase. The number of successful students this year is five up by one. The University Grants Commission sponsored Coaching and Guidance Centre at AMU has played a key a role in this grand success.

One of the successful candidates Mahfoozur Rahman gives full credit for his success to Coaching and Guidance Centre and its Coordinator Dr. Pervez Talib besides his own hard labour. Mahfoozur Rahman who holds a double M.A. in Urdu literature and History cleared the civil services examinations in his fourth and final attempt. According to the Counsellor of Coaching and Guidance Centre Saad Hameed the key to success in Civil Services is self confidence and hard labour.

At the felicitation function the former Coordinator of Coaching and Guidance Centre Prof. Habeebur Rahman congratulated the successful students. Prof. Habeebur Rahman who had been the Coordinator of the Coaching and Guidance Centre from 1972-78 told that during this period thirty five students cleared the civil services examinations. The year 1978 is historic for Aligarh Muslim University. That year eighteen students appeared for the civil services examination and all of them qualified that.

Prof. Habeebur Rahaman while lauding the efforts of the present Coordinator Dr. Pervez Talib mentioned that for a while this process came to a standstill but now with untiring efforts of the present Coordinator Dr. Pervez Talib this process has not only been revived but also has gained significant momentum and the Coaching and Guidance Centre has acquired international eminence. Besides Mahfoozur Rahman the other successful candidates of Aligarh Muslim University are: Anis Ahmad Ansari, Aisha Rani, Faizan Nayyar and Sabiha Rizvi.
