Guangzhou (China) : India blanked Ukraine 5-0 in their second Group 3B league tie of the Sudirman Cup badminton here Tuesday.
India had defeated Australia 4-1 in the first match Monday and are now leading the four-team Group with two wins in two matches.
The topper of Group 3A and 3B will clash in a play-off for promotion to the higher Group 2.
The men’s doubles pair of Rupesh Kumar and Sanave Thomas trounced Vitaly Konov and Dmytro Zavadsky 21-14, 21-6.
World No.10 Saina Nehwal took just 22 minutes to dispatch Mariya Diptan 21-18, 21-9.
In the men’s singles, Arvind Bhat outclassed Valeriy Atrashchenkov 21-16, 21-11.
The scratch women’s combination of Aparna Balan and Shruti Kurian, who lost their match against Australia Monday, registered a 21-7, 21-14 victory over Larisa Griga and Elena Prus.
The mixed doubles pair of V. Diju and Jwala Gutta then made it 5-0 for India, defeating Zavadsky and Mariya 21-15, 22-20.
In another Group 3B match Scotland beat Australia 5-0.
India, who are aiming for a promotion to Group 2 of the world mixed team badminton championship, next play Scotland Wednesday.
In Group 3B, Bulgaria, USA, Sweden and Czech Republic are locked in a close battle with all four teams managing one win from two ties.
Czech Republic will take on Bulgaria while Sweden will play USA in the final round later Tuesday.
