New Delhi: Ten people were Tuesday detained from outside Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s residence here for trying to stage a protest against his remark that the 1984 anti-Sikh riots “cannot be kept alive forever”.
According to senior police officers, the people, reportedly belonging to the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), sat on a demonstration outside the prime minister’s 7 Race Course Road residence around 3 p.m.
“They were immediately taken into custody, but were released later,” said a police officer.
