Drunk motorist rams into wall of minister’s house

New Delhi: Driving allegedly under the influence of alcohol, a man rammed his luxurious car into the wall of a cabinet minister’s house after hitting and injuring a motorcyclist here, police said Thursday.

Police arrested Vinay Sikka and impounded his vehicle Wednesday while he was trying to flee in his Skoda car.

Sikka, a resident of Malviya Nagar in south Delhi, was with his girlfriend and “was drunk when arrested”, a police officer said.

The incident took place at Chanakyapuri area at around 10.30 p.m. Wednesday.

“Varun was driving his car at a high speed. He first hit a motorcycle due to which the motorcyclist, Hemant Kumar, fractured his leg,” the police officer added.

“Varun did not stop and fled away. Near Janpath area, he rammed (the car) into a wall of a minister’s house.”

The injured motorcyclist was taken to a hospital.
