Kathmandu : Nepali Congress (NC) leader Girija Prasad Koirala Thursday requested China to help the formation of a new government and put an end to the political crisis in Nepal.
Koirala, who met Chinese envoy to Nepal Qui Guohang at his residence in Maharajgunj Thursday afternoon, asked for China’s support to the CPN-UML, the liberal Communist Party of Nepal, in forming a new coalition government in the country.
The NC leader told the diplomat that China’s support “is necessary to the new government as it will draft the new constitution and take the peace process to a logical conclusion”, Kantipur.com quoted Koirala’s advisor Suresh Chalise as saying.
Qui expressed concern over the increasing risk of differences among the political parties affecting the constitution-drafting and peace processes, Chalise said.
Koirala assured that no problem would arise in these issues even though the parties are deviating in the recent time.
During the half-an-hour-long meeting, the Chinese envoy also inquired about the anti-China activities including pro-Tibet demonstrations.
On Wednesday, Qui conferred with caretaker Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.
Meanwhile, the NC leader continued consultations with various political parties to garner support for the CPN-UML led government and end the political crisis that began with the resignation of Prime Minister Prachanda of CPN-Maoist.

All the four parties reportedly agreed that they must jointly hold talks with the Madhesi People’s Rights Forum leaders, who are still undecided.
