New Delhi : Congress candidate Mahabal Mishra Saturday dashed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) hope of winning at least one Lok Sabha seat in the national capital by defeating Jagdish Mukhi with a margin of around 100,000 votes.
Mishra got 479,856 votes, while BJP’s Mukhi got 350,823. Except the Janakpuri assembly segment, Mishra pipped Mukhi in nine assembly – Rajouri Garden, Dwarka, Matiala, Uttam Nagar, Madipur, Hari Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Najafgarh and Vikas Puri.
In the Punjabi-dominated areas of Tilak Nagar and Hari Nagar, Mishra received 7,700 votes, 1,531 more than Mukhi.
