Maulana Asrarul Haque Qasmi wins Kishanganj

By Manzar Imam Qasmi,

Prominent Muslim scholar and columnist Maulana Asrarul Haque Qasmi won the Kishanganj Lok Sabha seat with a thick margin of 81,125 votes defeating RJD’s senior leader Md. Taslimuddin and JDU candidate Syed Mahmud Ashraf.

It should be noted that Maulana Qasmi had filed his nomination on the last day and had less time for campaigning but his social work and immense emotional public support led him to victory.

The founder president of Delhi-based All India Talimi Wa Milli Foundation, Maulana Qasmi belongs to Kishnaganj and he has been active in the educational uplift of the people of Kishanganj which records one of the lowest female literacy in India. It was in this perspective that he set up Milli Girls School about 7 years ago.

When contacted Maulana Qasmi described his victory as a victory of the people of Kishanganj and said he would work for them and get them what they deserve.

Deceived and deserted by their own elected public representatives, people have high expectation from him. Although he has won the first battle the real challnge for the septuagenarian leader lies ahead.
