New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran L.K. Advani has agreed to continue as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, party president Rajnath Singh said Monday.
“The party needs Advaniji’s guidance following the setback in the general elections. Advaniji has agreed to continue as the party leader in parliament,” Singh told reporters after the BJP’s parliamentary board met here.
In its parliamentary board meeting Saturday, Advani offered to step down as the Leader of Opposition and asked the BJP to elect a new leader.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) came a distant second to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) in the Lok Sabha elections.
